Severity Definitions

The severities relevant to thermal shutdown are Warning and Failure.

Warning

A warning event occurs when any temperature probe inside a chassis reads a temperature
(in degrees Celsius) that exceeds the maximum temperature warning threshold. Users can
either accept default warning threshold definitions or specify the maximum and minimum
temperature warning thresholds.

Failure

A failure event occurs when any temperature probe inside a chassis reads a temperature
(in degrees Celsius) that exceeds the maximum temperature failure threshold. Users cannot
set failure thresholds. Temperature failure thresholds are defined by the system
manufacturer.
